What It Is
Fidya is a charitable compensation paid by those who are permanently unable to fast during Ramadan. For each missed day, you feed one person in need. It is not for those who can make up their fasts later.
Who It Applies To
Muslims who are permanently unable to fast due to chronic illness, old age, or a medical condition that will not improve. This is for long-term inability, not temporary illness.
When It Is Required
For each day of Ramadan that cannot be fasted. You can pay for individual days or the full month at once. Payment should be made during or shortly after Ramadan.
A Mercy for Those Who Cannot Fast
“And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom of feeding a poor person.”
Quran 2:184
Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. For those who truly cannot fast, Fidya is a mercy - a way to still participate in the spirit of Ramadan by feeding those in need. Your inability becomes someone else's provision.
