Beneficiary Protection
The safety and dignity of the people we serve comes first. We maintain strict safeguarding protocols, conduct background checks on all field staff, and provide clear reporting mechanisms for any concerns.
Cultural Sensitivity
We operate across 23+ countries with diverse cultures, traditions, and norms. Our programs are designed in consultation with local communities to ensure they are appropriate, respectful, and genuinely helpful.
Environmental Responsibility
Our programs - including Umma Farm and infrastructure projects - are designed with environmental sustainability in mind. We prioritize solutions that support long-term ecological health alongside community development.
Conflict Sensitivity
In regions affected by conflict, we take extra care to ensure our aid does not exacerbate tensions. We assess the local context, work with trusted community partners, and monitor for unintended consequences.
Anti-Discrimination
UMMA Foundation serves people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or nationality. Aid is distributed based on need, not identity. We do not discriminate in our hiring, partnerships, or program delivery.
Anti-Terrorism and Sanctions Compliance
We comply with all U.S. laws regarding anti-terrorism and sanctions. We screen all partners, vendors, and beneficiaries against OFAC and other watchlists. We do not knowingly provide support to any sanctioned entity.
Reporting Concerns
If something feels wrong, tell us. We take every report seriously.
If you witness or suspect any violation of these principles - whether by our staff, partners, or volunteers - we encourage you to report it. All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly.
