While policy debates continue, theUMMA Hope Busis already on the ground—every week, in every borough, in every kind of weather.
The UMMA Hope Bus isUmma Foundation’s mobile humanitarian relief program—a fleet of vehicles that bring freshly preparedhalal meals, warm clothing, hygiene kits, and grooming servicesdirectly to the streets, shelters, and underpasses where New York’s most vulnerable populations live.
The program grew out ofMuslims Giving Back, a grassroots street outreach movement whose volunteers would load their own cars with food on the coldest nights and drive into the hardest-hit neighborhoods. When Muslims Giving Back merged with Umma Foundation, the mission scaled—from a handful of volunteers to a coordinated relief operation servinghundreds of families every week.
The UMMA Hope Bus doesn’t just feed the hungry. It reminds people that they haven’t been forgotten.
